Description

The term Hindi comes from the Persian word ‘Hind’, which means ‘land of the Indus River’ It was named by the Turks who invaded Punjab and Gangetic plains in the early 11th century. The fourth most spoken language in the world, the modern standard Hindi is an Indo-Aryan language spoken in India. It has its origins from the Vedic Sanskrit language. Written in the Devanagari script, Hindi is one of the two official languages in India, the other being English. It is also the official language in 9 states and 3 Union territories of India.
